Our Program When your child attends the Venture Free Recreation program, their afterschool hours may be spent immersed in a variety of activities. While we aim to incorporate nature interaction into our pedagogy, the real heart of our program lies in the interests of our campers! A little bit 'makerspace'. A little bit 'summer camp'. A little bit 'a whole lotta' fun!' We want our kids to follow what excites them. We work hard to provide a free flowing space that encourages and teaches our campers to work and play and explore, unstructured; They might get creative in the dirt and construct intricate bug houses Or tunnel systems. They might want to earn allowance by helping with chores like the fish tank or the compost We might spend the afternoon cooking up a storm - some kids will want to help Some kids will rather build with the blocks Or the Legos. Or play with the doll house They might want to create potions Or read They may choose to turn cardboard boxes into houses, armor, masks, mailboxes, shoes, planes... Kids might choose to participate in a lead craft or project. They may choose to play kick ball instead. They might be searching for treasure - digging in our dig pit Or they might help work in the garden They might want to build forts Or play hangman Or make hot chocolate Or lemonade The water guns *might* come out if its really hot :) And in the spring, we will bring back first aid! |
